Disc Golf is a fun, inexpensive, family-friendly activity that is great for all ages and level of experience.
The object of the game is to get your disc from the tee pad to the basket in as few throws as possible.
While there are a lot of similarities with what we like to call ‘regular’ golf (including the names of discs and clubs), disc golf is played primarily in heavily wooded areas with a multitude of obstacles to navigate — in Tahoe, that includes pine trees, granite boulders, ice melt rivers, and the occasional bear.
We want to show you not only the basics of the sport but help you develop a passion for something that might stay with you for the rest of your life.
We’ll be there every step of the way to help navigate the course, develop a throwing style that works for you, and hopefully, start shaving strokes off your score!
Why do we do this?
ASIDE FROM THE SIMPLE JOY OF SPENDING THE DAY WALKING THROUGH THE WOODS?
The idea FOR TDGA was born from personal struggles playing disc golf.
Friends encouraged me to play at our local park, but I kept noticing that while I progressed with their encouragement and direction, by myself, I was getting lost and frustrated.
“If only I had a personal guide to help me excel that much faster”, I thought.
And so began Tahoe Disc Golf Adventures.
Curious how disc golf started? We’re nerds too, it’s OK.
The history of disc golf is a little blurry, incomplete, and hotly contested. There’s evidence as far back as the early 1900’s of people throwing tin lids into baskets in Canada (tin-lid golf), but it wasn’t until the 60’s and 70’s that modern disc golf as we know began gaining traction as a popular sport.
